This comprehensive patient booklet has been developed by Takeda UK in collaboration with psychiatrist Dr Judith Mohring to help women and girls diagnosed with ADHD better understand how their condition may be influenced by female sex hormones throughout different stages of life.
The resource explores why ADHD is often overlooked or misdiagnosed in females, highlighting differences in symptom presentation compared with males and the impact of “masking”, where symptoms may be hidden or attributed to other mental health conditions. It explains the role of key brain neurotransmitters, including dopamine and noradrenaline, and how hormonal fluctuations can influence focus, emotional regulation, memory, executive functioning and overall ADHD symptom management.
